Travel

Getting to Vancouver Island:

By car from mainland BC: Take any ferry to either Duke Point or Departure Bay in Nanaimo. Book all ferries in advance to guarantee travel.

By car from the US: You can take the Black Ball ferry from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, BC. Otherwise you can cross into Canada by land from Washington state via the Peace Arch border crossing; then drive to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal and take it to either Duke Point or Departure Bay in Nanaimo via BC Ferries. Book all ferries in advance to guarantee travel.

By plane from BC mainland: fly to Nanaimo Airport (YCD).
By plane from the US: fly to Victoria International Airport (YYJ).

Getting to Tofino:

Hwy 4 is the ONLY road to and from Tofino, BC. By law, you are required to use all-season tires while driving on this road. It is a windy, remote, forest highway with no cell service, gas, or food (except for a couple rest stops with washrooms only along the way). Stock up on gas and supplies in Port Alberni as there are no services beyond that point till you get to Tofino.

If you plan on arriving at night in Tofino the day before the wedding, get all your supplies in Nanaimo or Port Alberni as all services close around 9pm in Tofino.

Please use this link to DriveBC.CA for up to the minute road conditions and alerts before you depart.
